Where I'm From...
This poem is an assignment that we did, writing our own "Where I'm From" poem after reading the one done by George Ella Lyon. I chose to include this artifact in my portfolio because is the first time I ever wrote a poem. I have always found it confusing at the time to write something that rhymes or that follows and structure as special as the one that poems follow. However, I feel that I did a good job in this case. This artifact shows my capacity to read and understand what I read to create something new based on what I just learned. Also I learned to use my words to create something special and that has meaning.
I think that doing the poem about myself also made the process to create the poem easier than expected. Also, now I have better idea of what I need to do for future times, if I ever have to write a poem again. This activity thought me to explore my creativity and to use my words wisely and carefully, and also to realize that there are a lot of ways to write the same ideas. Therefore, we must be careful and think about who will be our audience, so that we can get the best results with our writing, and send the right message. |
